How to Properly Add Your GFP Fellow Status or GFP Program Level to your Resume

Enrolling in the Global Financial Planning Essentials and Advanced courses shows your commitment to a higher standard, and earning the GFP Fellow status signals that you belong to an elite group of international financial professionals. Naturally, you want to call attention to your achievements on your resume.

GFP Institute encourages all Full members to include their status and candidates to display their participation in the legacy GFP Master Class Program on their resumes in accordance with the member standing as described below.

If you are an active GFP Fellow in good standing:
  • The proper usage of a GFP Fellow is “GFP Fellow” E.g. “Jane Doe, GFP Fellow”)
  • Include your member status in the certifications or education section of your resume as “GFP Fellow, GFP Institute.”
  • You may also include the date you became a GFP Fellow.
If you are currently a candidate in the GFP Master Class or Global Financial Planning Essentials or Advanced courses:
  • Include your participation in the legacy GFP Master Class or Global Financial Planning Essentials or Global Financial Planning Advanced program In the education section of your resume. (For example: “GFP Master Class participant, GFP Institute.”)
  • You may use the term “candidate” only if you are actively registered for a particular exam.
If you are a lapsed GFP Fellow:
  • Include your membership status in the certifications section of your resume and specify the dates held. (For example: “GFP Fellow, 20XX–20XX.”)
